About
About Connecticut Garage Door Repair
Connecticut Garage Door Repair is an independent referral service and name-only directory for garage door repair in Connecticut. We are not a garage door company.
What we do
We do three things. First, we publish practical, sourced information for Connecticut property owners: how garage door springs fail, what repairs typically cost, what's safe to check yourself, how Connecticut's home improvement contractor rules protect you, and what's different about the housing and weather in each city we cover. Every statistic links to its source.
Second, we keep a name-only directory of garage door businesses that hold an active Connecticut home improvement contractor (HIC) registration, taken from the state's public credential records.
Third, we provide a phone number. When you call it, your call is routed to a participating independent garage door company that serves your area, if one is available.
How referrals work
- You call (860) 791-1424 and describe where the property is and what the door is doing.
- Your call is routed to a participating independent garage door company that covers your area, when one is available. Availability depends on your ZIP code, the type of job, and when you call.
- You deal with that company directly. They inspect the door, give you a price, and do any work you agree to under their own business name, HIC registration, and insurance. You're under no obligation to hire them.
How the directory works
The directory lists garage door businesses whose Connecticut home improvement contractor registration was active in the State Licenses and Credentials records on October 11, 2026, and whose registered business name includes "garage" or "overhead" (plus a few long-established door companies). For each one we show only the business name, the town on its registration, its HIC number, and the date the registration runs through.
- Listed companies are not our participants. They aren't affiliated with us, they don't pay to be listed, and calling our number does not reach them.
- A listing is not a recommendation. Connecticut HIC registration requires liability insurance and a fee; it is not a trade exam or a quality rating.
- The list isn't complete. A registered company without "garage" or "overhead" in its name won't appear, and registrations change. Always confirm a registration on eLicense.
- Corrections: if a listing is wrong or you'd like a business removed, call (860) 791-1424 and ask for the website operator.
What we don't do
- We don't repair or install garage doors, employ technicians, own service vans, or keep a shop in any city.
- We don't hold a Connecticut HIC registration, and we're not a government agency, a licensing board, or a trade association.
- We don't diagnose garage door problems or quote prices. Only a company that sees the door can do that.
- We don't guarantee that a company is available in every location, at every hour, or for every type of job, and we don't promise response times or 24/7 service.
- We don't verify, certify, insure, or supervise participating companies, and we don't claim that any of them is registered or insured. Ask each one, and check eLicense.
- We don't publish reviews, ratings, or project photos we can't verify. Images on this site are illustrative, not photos of completed jobs.
Referral disclosure
Connecticut Garage Door Repair is an independent referral service that connects Connecticut homeowners and property owners with participating garage door companies. Work is performed by independent contractors. We may receive compensation for qualified referrals. That's how this site is funded. We don't charge callers for the referral, and compensation doesn't change the information we publish or which companies appear in the directory.
Before you hire any garage door company in Connecticut
- Ask for the HIC registration number and look it up on eLicense. Residential garage door work over $200 requires a registered home improvement contractor.
- Get a written contract with the HIC number, the work, the price, start and completion dates, and your three-day right to cancel. Saturday counts as a business day.
- Ask for proof of liability insurance. The Department of Consumer Protection tells homeowners to ask for at least $20,000 in coverage.
- Keep deposits modest. DCP suggests limiting a deposit to about one-third of the job.
